Print several paper codes, save as PDF, download Word
From the exam card, click “Print exam”: choose 1–10 paper codes (4 by default), print or save as PDF from your browser, or download a Word file. Paper codes are numbered 101, 102… and an answer key is included at the end.

Steps
- Go to “Exams” → click “Print exam” on the exam card. The “Export printable exam” page opens on its own, without the sidebar.
- Choose the “Number of paper codes” (1–10). Each paper code is a full A4 exam paper: the header has SCHOOL, CLASS, TEST, the exam title, subject, time limit, boxes for the full name and candidate number, and a paper code box, followed by the questions (the group title in bold above the first question of each group; a question that isn't in any group and comes right after a group has a thin line above it) and an — END — line.
- Turn “Print with answer key” on or off (on by default). The ANSWER KEY table is on the last page: each column is a paper code, each row is a question.
- Click “Print / Save as PDF” to open your browser's print dialog. Choose “Save as PDF” if you want a PDF, and turn off “Headers and footers” for a clean printout.
- Click “Download Word (.docx)” to download a file with every paper code and the answer key at the end.
Options and limits
- Shuffling
- Paper codes are shuffled using exactly the exam's two options, “Shuffle question order” and “Shuffle the order of answers A, B, C, D”; questions with a group title are only shuffled within their group; True/False questions always keep their options in the order you wrote. When every paper code comes out identical (both options off, or an exam with only True/False and essay questions and no question shuffling), the print page shows a warning.
- Answer key cells
- The correct letter (for multiple answers, joined with commas, for example B,D); a — when the question has no correct option; TL for essay or short-answer questions (graded following the teacher's guidance).
- Essay / short-answer questions
- No options are printed; a note with the question type and points is printed, plus 10 ruled lines (essay) or 3 ruled lines (short answer).
- Limits
- Up to 300 questions, and the number of questions times the number of paper codes can't exceed 1500. Draft exams can be printed too.
Common errors and how to fix them
- “The printable exam is too large; reduce the number of paper codes” → choose fewer paper codes.
- “The exam has no questions to export for printing” → add questions to the exam first.
- “You don't have permission to export this exam.” or “Exam not found.” → only the person who created the exam (or an administrator) can print it.
- The same exam always produces exactly the same paper codes. Editing questions, reordering them or turning shuffling on/off after printing changes every paper code — print the whole set again. Since October 2026, True/False questions no longer have their options shuffled, so papers printed before then (with answer shuffling on) may differ in their True/False questions if you export them again: grade the copies already handed out with the answer key printed with them at that time.
- The Word file always includes the answer key, even if you untick “Print with answer key”. Remember to remove the answer key pages before handing out the exam.
- Content is printed as plain text: bold and underline aren't kept, and images aren't printed. Formulas written between two $ signs appear as math when you click “Print / Save as PDF”; in the Word file, formulas stay as typed (for example $x^2$).
